Project Notes
Twofold Studio was engaged to design the multipurpose M’s Café for St Margaret’s Anglican Girls’ School. The space had to work as a fully operating café for the hospitality students, a learning space and a function room to enhance the greater community of St Margaret’s.
The interior created a juxtaposition between old and new design elements. A nod to the school’s rich heritage was incorporated with the historic timeline designed by the school and refurbished traditional furniture used by the Sisters in Community House. These elements were intermixed with contemporary lighting, feature curtain space, pops of colour and texture. Quotes from the principal were added to custom lampshades enhancing the layering of community, history, and place.
The exterior and interior were linked via bi-fold doors which open the space onto a newly landscaped feature garden. The combined areas have been a welcome addition to the school’s community spaces.
